ISPA appoints AdValvas Solutions as technical and business advisor for set-up of ISPAtrust platform
AdValvas Solutions has been appointed technical and business advisor for the set-up of ISPAtrust, an independent platform organisation which will dedicate itself to providing technical and financial interoperability services among digital Trust Authorities.
ISPA, the Internet Service Providers Association, representing 97% of internet connections in Belgium, plans to establish a platform which will allow customers of different Certification Authorities to engage in secure and guaranteed communication through the internet and other digital means of interaction.
This platform - and its ancillary services - will assure businesses and consumers that their digital communications (e-mail, mobile phones, …) will have the same commercial and legal value as that is currently attached to a regular letter or fax. According to Jean-Philippe Schepens, President of ISPA: "We consider the ISPAtrust project as the key to truly unlocking the potential of e-business and e-government in Belgium. After all, while email is a generally accepted communication tool, people still reach for paper when the information gets really important. That needs to change."
As one of Belgium's leading companies in the areas of digital identification and the electronic exchange of data, AdValvas Solutions has been appointed by ISPA to lead the consultancy team building the technical pilot and business case for the ISPAtrust organisation.
For this, under the auspices of ISPA, AdValvas is currently engaging in conversations with a variety of certification authorities (among which Certipost, Isabel and Globalsign) to establish whether - and in which way - they would like to co-operate with this open and independent interoperability platform.
Also, extensive conversations are under way with the ISPA members which are sponsoring the study to assess the ways in which they can introduce certified communication services in their business offer.
To Francis Van den Bosch, CEO of Advalvas Solutions, this is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate the company's ability of balancing technology and business sense. "The real challenge in this project", he says, "lies in making sure that the technical infrastructure is so simple and universal that it can be applied by anyone, yet at the same time be complex enough that it satisfies all the business priorities of what are essentially competitors for the same customer."
